<p>When I began, people would ask me about my strategy. I would always tell them what I had in mind, but they were rarely satisfied with my attempt to answer them. </p><p>"Hang on. So you just write down what you're thinking and... SEND IT?"</p><p>Exactly. But in all seriousness, something great happens every time I hit "SEND".</p>.<p>The "regulars" always get back to me with enthusiasm, encouragement and valuable perspectives. Long-lost contacts come out the woodwork. </p><p><em>And commercial opportunities appear. Without me even asking for them. As if by magic.</em></p><p>I can never predict what exactly will come of this weekly effort, but I know that something good will happen. Because it does, every time. </p>.<p>I'm reminded of this quote I read the other day:</p><p><strong>"You have the right to work but never to the fruit of the work." </strong>- Bhagavad Gita (2:47)</p><p>I think this is the greatest career advice I've ever seen. Showing up every week to prepare this letter is part of my work. I give it my full effort, care, concentration -- even love. Seriously, you get the best part of me. And then, I let it go. Without expectations.</p>.<p>I don't have to worry about the reward, or even think about it. Because I know I've already done the work. I fully trust and believe in my process so it's a no-brainer to me that the reward will follow.</p><p>So often, we get it backwards. Because we're obsessed with what the process will give to us, because we don't fully believe in it, we compromise its value by making it conditional.</p><p>Don't put the donkey before the cart. You won't go anywhere.</p>.<p>Committing to the process of this work without any sense of attachment, scarcity or fear means I am never disappointed. Whatever comes, in any shape or size, is more than I had yesterday -- and I treat it as such. With gratitude.</p><p>How would you approach your business if you did so without expectation of reward?</p><p>It doesn't matter what goes into your wealth-creation process. Whether it's calling a new customer, crafting a proposal, responding to a tender or going in for a presentation. Immerse yourself in that experience with your full love and care. Try your hardest. Go beyond your limit. These are the elements you can control.</p>.<p><strong>And then, let it go.</strong></p><p>I assure you, the quality of your output, the value you bring to others, the clarity of your message, and your ability to unlock high-level customer interactions will ascend to a whole new level...</p><p>And the reward will come naturally, effortlessly, fully taking care of itself.
