GABORONE – Wilderness Safaris is delighted to announce the appointment of Simon Stobbs as its new Chief Sales Officer, to ensure that the company is able to continue to give its valued trade partners and friends the service and strategic support required, to not only endure the current challenges that we’re facing, but to emerge stronger together.

“While we sadly bid a fond farewell to Tracy Bamber, and thank her for many years of dedicated service, passion and commitment to Wilderness Safaris, we are also grateful that she leaves us with a world-class team in place”, notes Wilderness Safaris CEO, Keith Vincent. “Simon has played an integral role in our sales team over the past five years as Business Unit Manager: USA, and we are thrilled to promote him to this exciting role”.

“Simon has an unparalleled passion for conservation tourism, with over 18 years’ experience in the industry. With the last five years spent successfully driving our North American sales as a Business Unit Manager, coupled with his early days as a private guide and his experience running his own tour operating business, we are confident that he is well placed to lead our already strong sales team to even greater heights”, he adds.

In addition to his extensive knowledge of sales and marketing, Simon’s many years of lodge-based and private guiding developed a profound understanding of many African countries, including Botswana, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. He also worked closely with Wilderness for many years while running his own tour operating business. His ten years at Wilderness Safaris have seen him develop extensive sales experience, as well as a sincere appreciation for the company’s commitment to conservation and community empowerment.

“This is certainly an interesting time to be taking on this role, but I am really excited about building relationships with our trade partners and working closely together to ensure that we come out of this crisis stronger, with a bright future ahead. The one thing that gives me a bigger kick than any other is watching a guest have an incredible safari experience. I think this probably stems from my guiding days, where seeing the delight on peoples’ faces as they were exposed to the wonders of Africa was something I thrived on. I am looking forward to this next part of my own personal journey, as well as those that we craft for our guests, ultimately growing our positive conservation footprint”.
