31 May 2022Selibe Phikwe - Stanbic Bank Botswana is pleased to heed the call of Honourable Kgoberego Nkawana, Member of Parliament for Selibe Phikwe East, who recently established a drive to reward academic excellence in the region. Selibe Phikwe East schools have performed excellently in recent exams, with Meepong Secondary School scooping position one in the country. The Bank, in a gesture championed by Selibe Phikwe Branch staff, has contributed P10,000.00 to the initiative, to go towards 4 schools. The handover event was held recently at New Stance Kgotla Tribal Admin offices. It was graced by dignitaries such as Dikgosi, School Heads, Botswana Police Station Commander, The Town Mayor, The District Commissioner, Village Development Committee (VDC)..Said Regina Moloko, Stanbic Bank Selibe Phikwe Branch Manager on behalf of the her team, “We are inspired of this initiative and happy to be part of it. We are truly proud of the efforts of the students, teachers and parents across schools in the constituency, and we celebrate what this means for the Nation as we make greater strides in our academic prowess. Stanbic Bank has a long history of working to support and champion academic excellence in youth, and this opportunity allows us to build further on this, rewarding excellence and inspiring continued greatness. As part of our commemoration of 30 years since Stanbic Bank Botswana first opened its doors in 1992, we therefore make this as but one gesture significant one in our hearts.” The initiative seeks to raise a total of P10,000.00 to reward the 4 schools in the Selibe Phikwe East Constituency and we look towards even more schools being rewarded in the coming years..Said Honourable Nkawana, “We thank Stanbic Bank and are grateful for the generosity of the Selibe Phikwe Branch staff who came to make the donation. When we recognise and reward improved efforts and indeed excellence of our youth in their schooling years, as well as the teaching and support staff behind them, we inspire continued excellence. This is how we change the trajectory of our academic story. Let us all come forward and play a part in any way that we can.” The gesture comes as part of a Bank-wide initiative, with 13 Branches across the country identifying community initiatives they wish to support in their areas. The drive forms a part of the Stanbic Bank Botswana 30th anniversary efforts, anchored on unlocking possibilities for and with communities.ENDS.
