25 July 2022MANTSHWABISI - Stanbic Bank Botswana continues to work to deliver positive progress as part of its 30th anniversary commemorations and indeed as part of our wider culture of creating shared value. With all 13 of the Bank’s branches committed to driving dedicated CSI initiatives in their communities, the Fairgrounds Branch staff have resolved to support Mantshwabisi Primary School in Mantshwabisi village. This is in line with Stanbic Bank’s education focus as part of its CSI strategy, and indeed a testament to the importance of staff volunteerism in delivering community prosperity. On the 23rd of July 2022, Fairgrounds Branch staff donated 75 blankets and 16 fruit trees (11 orange trees and 5 naartjie trees) to the School in Mantshwabisi village, collectively valued at over P20,000. The blankets are an essential need for the school, while the hope is that the fruit trees will bring positive returns and yields for years to come, not only for the school to consume, but to potentially sell surplus produce for additional income..The donation was handed to the School Head, Principal Education Officer II from Letlhakeng Sub Region and Chairperson of Village Extension Team, in the presence of teachers, boarding personnel and the parents and students. Speaking at the ceremony, Stanbic Bank Botswana Fairgrounds Branch Manager, Ms. Winnie Moshaga said, “It is in our culture as Batswana to give back; to support each other, and to show botho in action. This is what we strive to ensure is upheld in our business and our teams. What better way to show our gratitude for 30 years since we first opened our doors than to thank the very communities who have been so supportive and loyal to us? We are grateful to Mantshwabisi Primary School for being a part of our story and for allowing us to be a part of theirs, making a difference in any way that we can. Let us never allow these gems of our culture to fade, for we are always stronger together and better together. In community, we find strength and possibilities. As we say at Stanbic Bank, It Can Be!”.Mantshwabisi Primary School has an enrolment of 507 students, with about 65% being boarding learners. The school catchment area covers Mosime Lerulakala, Kolozane, Masupi, Magakabe, just to name a few. It therefore plays a key role in the area in caring for and educating students today – many of whom come from these settlements - for a better tomorrow.Said Mantshwabisi Primary School Head, Ms. Sethunya Mmusi, “It is a privilege to have the school adopted by Stanbic Bank Botswana. It is indeed an honour to be receiving these donations on behalf of the students and the teachers, and we thank the Bank for their kindness.”ENDS.
