5th April 2022GABORONE - Building further on its relationship with Botswana Doctors’ Union (BDU), after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for support in 2021, Stanbic Bank Botswana donated medical scrubs to the BDU. The effort comes through the Employee Value Banking team, with support from Affluent Banking staff and the Stanbic Bank Running Club. 350 medical grade scrubs sets were handed over to BDU in the presence of the Minister of Health and Wellness, Honourable Dr. Edwin Dikoloti, and BDU Acting President, Dr. Thabang Tau.Said Acting Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank Botswana, Mr. Christopher Gwere, “As Stanbic Bank Botswana, we wholeheartedly appreciate the brave and committed men and women who fight fearlessly on the frontlines to preserve lives, through the pandemic and indeed before and even after it. Their work is nothing short of heroic. Having signed an MoU to support BDU members in 2021 with lending solutions and salary accounts at preferential interest rates as well as financial advisory, we continue to identify avenues through which to show our gratitude and support. This donation comes as part of our continued efforts to improve lives and drive Botswana’s growth through BDU. This is tomagano and botho in action, and the spirit of It Can Be realised.”.Botswana Doctors Union was established to advocate for the welfare of Doctors in Botswana. It is a registered Trade Union which is also recognized as a bargaining agent for its members in the public sector. Stanbic Bank’s March 2021 MoU with BDU forged the beginning of a momentous partnership and a journey of financial empowerment for the 350 members of BDU. The scheme, valid for a period of three years, will also cover other solutions including savings and investments and free financial literacy to BDU members as part of Stanbic Bank’s commitment to ensure that members are financially savvy and independent.Said Honourable Minister Dr. Dikoloti, “It is a great honour and pleasure to be officiating at this important event that marks a key milestone in one of Stanbic Bank Botswana’s CSR initiatives. It is with delight to note that the overall aim of this partnership is in sync with the mandate of our country where companies are urged to make a contribution to the society in which they operate and what better way to make such an impactful contribution than to extend a hand to our doctors during this challenging era of COVID-19.
