When was the PBGA platform created?The first Private Business Growth Awards in Botswana began in 2015. 2018 sees the 4th consecutive year in which the platform is being run. Who is eligible to enter the PBGA?All private businesses or groups can apply or submit. To be eligible for the Awards, the participant must be a privately-owned business / group ultimately held by citizens / residents of Botswana, OR privately-owned business / group ultimately held by non-resident shareholders, operating in Botswana for 3 years and employs 100 employees. Each participant must meet the eligibility criteria. A participant can submit as a group of companies and, in that case, the credentials of the group can be presented, and consolidated / aggregated financial information of the group must be presented. How do businesses or groups enter PBGA?Applications forms are available from Grant Thornton once the process begins. To be considered for the award, companies must complete the information requested in this Submission form in full detail and attach any growth story in any video format, supporting documents, etc. that speak to the various criteria for evaluation as shared by Grant Thornton. How are PBGA applicants assessed?Applicants are assessed based on pre-published evaluation criteria and how this is met or demonstrated in their physical submissions. This includes any and all supporting material provided to demonstrate Innovation, Market Development, People and culture, and Strategic leadership, as well as Financial measures and operational information.
